Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how BibleTools.io (the “Service”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Service. By using BibleTools.io, you acknowledge that your information will be handled as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to run the Service:

  • Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you register with a password, we store it only in hashed (encrypted) form and never in plain text. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information (such as your name, email address, profile image, and account identifier) as authorized by your Google account settings. We do not receive or store your Google password.
  • Preferences and saved content. We store the settings you choose (such as theme, translation, and reading options) and content you create, such as saved study sessions and verse-image settings.
  • Technical information. To operate and secure the Service, we record limited technical data such as your IP address and the time of your last login.
  • Usage and analytics. We use analytics to understand how the Service is used (for example, which pages are visited). See “Cookies and Analytics” below.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
  • Create and manage your account and authenticate you;
  • Save and restore your preferences and study sessions across sessions and devices;
  • Send account-related emails, such as email verification or sign-in codes;
  • Monitor, secure, and troubleshoot the Service and prevent abuse.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process personal information to provide the Service, fulfill our contractual obligations to users, comply with legal obligations, protect the security and integrity of the Service, and pursue our legitimate interests in improving and operating the Service.

4. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the Service to function, such as a cookie that remembers your theme preference and a cookie that keeps you signed in.

You may configure your browser to refuse or delete cookies, although some features of the Service may not function properly as a result.

We also use Google Analytics to collect aggregated usage statistics. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device and browser details. This information helps us understand and improve the Service. Analytics information is generally aggregated and is not used to identify individual users. You can learn more from Google's privacy resources and control cookies through your browser settings.

5. Do Not Track

Some web browsers may send “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is no universally accepted standard for responding to such signals, the Service does not currently respond to them.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate the Service, including Google (sign-in and analytics), an email delivery provider (to send account emails), and a database hosting provider (to store your data). These providers process information only on our behalf.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the Service.
  • Security and fraud prevention. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to investigate, prevent, or address fraud, security issues, abuse of the Service, or violations of our Terms.
  • Business transfers. If BibleTools.io is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, financing, or similar transaction, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

7. Data Hosting

Information collected through the Service may be stored and processed on servers operated by our hosting and infrastructure providers. These providers may be located in the United States or other countries.

8. Data Retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate operational reasons. Some information may remain in backups, logs, or security records for a limited period before being automatically deleted. Short-lived records such as one-time sign-in codes are deleted automatically after a brief period.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including storing passwords in hashed form and restricting access to personal data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights and Choices

You can view and update your account information and preferences in your settings at any time, and you can delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To make such a request, contact us using the details below.

We will respond to privacy-related requests within a reasonable period and in accordance with applicable law.

11. California Privacy Rights

California residents may have additional rights regarding their personal information under applicable privacy laws. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

12. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

13. International Users

Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than the one in which you live. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to those countries, which may have different data-protection laws.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means your information will be handled as described in the updated policy.
