Bell's Commentary on the Bible
Brian Bell
Esther 10
Verses 1–3
- TABLE MANNERS (10:1-3)
- 3 things to learn from Mordecai’s story:
- God uses unexpected people at unexpected times.
- God moves David from being a shepherd of a few sheep to king of His nation.
- God takes Moses, an 80 yr. w/a criminal record, & uses him to pull off the Exodus.
- He uses a Harlot to hide his spies (Rahab); a rebel prophet to spearhead an evangelsitc crusade in Ninevah (Jonah).
- He used a Pharisee & murderer to pen most of the N.T. (Paul)
- He used a deserter to kick off the early church (Peter).
- God uses people with an other centered heart.
- Contrast Haman vs. Mordecai.
- When the Lord gives you Affluence or Influence, use it to the Glory of God, and for the weak, the doubting, the tempted, & the comfortless.
- God uses those who seek the good of others, & who speaks Shalom to others.
- “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God!” (Corrie Ten Boom)
- So, God preserved the Jewish nation & we would have a Bible & a Savior.
