1 The song of the stairs. If it the LORD had not been of our side (now may Israel say) 2 If the LORD had not been of our side, when men rose up against us. 3 They had swallowed us up quick, when they were so wrathfully displeased at us. 4 Yea the waters had drowned us, the stream had gone over our soul. 5 The deep waters of the proud had gone even unto our soul. 6 But praised be the LORD, which hath not given us over for a prey unto their teeth. 7 Our soul is escaped, even as a bird out of the snare of the fowler: the snare is broken and we are delivered. 8 Our help standeth in the name of the LORD, which hath made heaven and earth.
